Welcome to ICLFG!
What this is
ICLFG stands for Icecrown Looking for Group. The name should be pretty straight-forward and obvious in relation to its purpose. The idea is to try to establish a single place for guild recruiters and players to connect and do that thing that they do when someone tries to apply. The guildless can register their character(s), create applications, and search the guild directory. Guild recruiters can register their guild, post recruitment plans, and search the player directory. There's also an Arena Teams directory, and it works the same way, really.
So in other words: you can use this site to browse guilds and arena teams, send them your application, and vice versa.

How it works
When you register a character, the site extracts your profile data from the Armory and estimates (based solely on your equipped gear) what sort of tier content you're looking for. Think of it as an automatic suggestion. This information is how the directories are sorted and filtered: Sunwell guilds will not find fresh, poorly-equipped level 70 characters and vice versa. The "suggestion" that this site gives you is overridable, of course, in case of armory mistakes, personal opinions (maybe you think you're good enough for Sunwell in your Karazhan epics!), or, I don't know, maybe you always log out in a wedding dress.
Why you should use it
Because my blood, sweat, and tears went into making this, well aware of how dependent its utility and functionality is on the community making use of it. There's a lot of guild recruitment/lfg posts on the realm forums, which is the reason I decided to take this risk and develop this site - I think something like this is desirable, but who knows, maybe everyone's cool with the realm forums.
But let me put it this way: I am a very important person on the internet. Take that into consideration when deciding whether or not you want tolive use this site.

Other things to note
You do not need to register with an e-mail address, nor will you need to verify anything before logging in. I absolutely hate site registrations like that. However, I recommend that you use an e-mail address so you can receive notifications through e-mail when someone tries to contact you though. A service like this probably isn't something you're going to want to check into daily to see if anything has happened!
Applications and recruitment plans expire after 45 days. They don't disappear or delete themselves - you just need to log back in and edit/save it, even if you're not changing anything. This helps counteract the clutter of old listings that somebody didn't care to take them down.
You don't have to be in a guild or team to recruit people. There currently isn't anything to propose and organize guilds/teams on the site, but you can still browse the character directories and contact other players.
Multiple users can manage a guild or team. To request management permissions, simply attempt to register the guild or team that is already registered on ICLFG. An error message will provide a link to send the request.
